Title: Communications and Visibility Intern

Duty Station (City and Country): Mogadishu, Somalia (or Remote as per operational needs)
Expected starting date: 15 January 2025
Expected duration: 3 months – Full-time assignment, with the possibility of extension for an additional 3 months

The overall purpose of the role:


Nomad Innovation Lab is seeking a creative and motivated Communications and Visibility Intern to enhance the organization's outreach and visibility. The intern will assist with content creation, managing social media platforms, documenting the RAAD EHR system scale-up, and supporting the Connect Somalia initiative. This project aims to connect communities through innovative digital solutions, and the intern will contribute to promoting its impact and outreach.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • RAAD EHR System:

    • Develop content for social media platforms, blogs, and newsletters to raise awareness of the RAAD EHR system and the organization’s work.

    • Document success stories from the scale-up process, including interviews with health workers and beneficiaries.

    • Assist in designing promotional materials (e.g., brochures, posters, infographics) to increase the visibility of the RAAD EHR project.

    • Manage social media accounts and engage with the online community to promote the project.

  • Connect Somalia:

    • Assist in the communications strategy for the Connect Somalia initiative by creating compelling content and promoting the project’s objectives.

    • Coordinate with the project team to document activities and highlight the progress of the Connect Somalia initiative.

    • Help organize visibility events, webinars, and outreach efforts related to Connect Somalia.

    • Support the development of communication materials and engage with media outlets to increase the initiative's visibility.

  • Assist in creating reports and presentations to showcase both the RAAD EHR system and Connect Somalia’s progress to donors and stakeholders.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or final year student) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.

  • Strong writing and storytelling skills.

  • Experience with social media management and content creation.

  • Basic knowledge of graphic design tools is an advantage.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Language:

  • Fluency in written and oral English and Somali is required.

Incentives:
Nomad Innovation Lab will provide a modest stipend to cover transportation and other related expenses during the internship period.
